I’m writing to ask you to excuse me for not being able to keep our appointment. I do know that this is very impolite and must have caused you much trouble.
I do reckon that at present any explanation is pale and futile. However I do not want you to misunderstand me. On my way to your office, an old lady suddenly fainted due to heart attack on the bus. I stopped a taxi and sent her into a nearby hospital. I stayed there until her son came, which spoiled our appointment.
I am aware that our appointment is of importance. I do hope that you would be kind enough to spare your valuable to meet me.

i'm writing to apologize for having forgotten to return the "the beatles" cd to you when i left canada,i was in such a hurry that i packed everything in my luggage without checking carefully.had i paid more attention then,i wouldn't have made such a stupid mistake.
now something must be done to solve the problem because i understand you cherish the cd enormously.i can either send it to you by express mail or alternatively compensate you at a reasonable price.if you do not mind,i may bring it back to you next time i go to canada.

That is owing to the fact that my younger brother suddenly fell ill and was taken to a hospital this morning. I have to go there immediately and take care of him. As told by the doctor in charge, it will take around five days for him to recover and I have asked my boss for a leave.
I really regret that I cannot go to celebrate your birthday personally and would miss the perfect chance of enjoying myself with all our old friends.
