　　get in Dutch with sb. 這個(gè)俚語來源于十七至十八世紀(jì)的“英荷之戰(zhàn)”，當(dāng)時(shí)英國人對荷蘭人非常憎恨，他們在重創(chuàng)荷蘭人之余，還在語言上得理不饒人，在許多場合都用Dutch一詞表示厭惡、輕蔑之意。這個(gè)俚語的意思就是：“得罪某人”。因此，當(dāng)美國人說"He always gets in Dutch with the boss."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的'意思就是:"He always causes offence to his boss."、"He often displeases his boss."。
