The Mirror and I
I like to look into the mirror. I remember when I was a little girl, I often stood on my toes, trying to find my face in the mirror of the dressing table, which was nearly as high as I was. Now I still like to look into the mirror. Only now, the dressing table is too low for me. As I bend down, I see the face of a young woman, glowing with maturity, confident in her future and fascinated with her own reflection.
The fact that I like to look into the mirror has to do with my granny with whom I spent most of my childhood. I remember clearly that one night I heard her murmuring, "Women can't be seen. Women can't be seen." I was so confused as to look into the mirror the next morning to check if I could indeed see myself. Only now as a young woman myself, can I understand that it was not physical visibility that granny had on her mind.
Granny spent all her life taking care of the family, day in and day out. She cooked for her husband and 10 children. But whenever guests came, she and other female family members had to eat by the stove in the small kitchen. At family discussions, she was never asked for her opinion. After grandpa passed away, she had to listen to my uncle, her eldest son, fulfilled her duty as daughter, wife, and mother; yet as a person, she remained little noticed. Even though she could see herself in the mirror of the dressing table, she was never visible in the mirror of society.
I have been living a different life. At home, I make decisions together with the rest of the family. In school, I often take charge of various activities the same as other boys and girls. Not only that, I can see something granny could not have dreamed of─making decisions for my own future. My life has been a series of decisions. I could choose from several universities as I came out of high school. At university, I could choose from a range of subjects from English literature to business law. And now upon graduation, I am again faced with decisions─to further my study or to go to work; to stay in China or to go abroad; to get married right away or to remain single for a bit longer.
It does not matter whether or not I will become famous or rich, but I will treasure the chance to demonstrate my potential and to help other women demonstrate theirs as full members of society, fully visible in the mirror of history. I will treasure it because the abundance of choice that I enjoy came only after decades of efforts made by my granny, my mum, and millions of other Chinese women.
However, the choices to be made by me and others of my generation are a great challenge. The misconception that men are superior to women is still dominating many people's minds. While men are encouraged to compete and to assert themselves, we are expected to be quiet, loyal and obedient. This is not very different from what is expected of us as good wives and good mothers. The challenge we face calls for a higher level of our personal development and self-determination.
The story of my grandmother and myself mirrors the lives of millions of other women in China and perhaps in the world. Many of them still lead the life of my grandmother. Their worth is not yet recognized. It is the responsibility of a young person like me to work hard and struggle hard so that they too will see themselves and will be seen in the mirror of society.
This is my dream. This dream, I believe, is not only shared by our grandmothers, mothers and sisters, but also by many of our fathers, brothers, husbands and male colleagues.
It will not come true until everyone fully realizes that women can contribute to society and should be guaranteed the right to do so. Women hold up half the sky.

一、注重預習。
“預習”是一種良好的學習習慣，是課堂教學中的重要環(huán)節(jié)。它作為學習過程的起始階段，是培養(yǎng)學生自學能力的重要途徑，在提高學習效率方面有著重要的作用。它不僅能幫學生“學會”知識，更能幫助學生“會學”知識。做好預習工作，功在課外，利在課內(nèi)。我們有以下幾個環(huán)節(jié)：
1、布置預習作業(yè)。
在寒暑假來臨之前，學校要求每位教師給學生特別布置假期預習作業(yè)。為了使預習有章可循，教師列出預習提綱，分發(fā)給每個學生。針對預習內(nèi)容，教師必須提出明確的預習要求。而且預習要求必須合理，正確，有可操作性。我們給學生布置了預習前三單元的內(nèi)容，具體到哪一天預習哪幾頁單詞，背會哪部分對話，掌握哪幾個句型，理解哪項語法內(nèi)容。此外，每日摘抄一句英語諺語，兩天一篇閱讀理解，五天一篇英語練筆（小作文）。
2、指導預習方法。
針對不同的教學內(nèi)容指導學生選用合適的預習方法，通過查閱資料、聽錄音帶、網(wǎng)絡(luò)學習、向哥哥姐姐求教等多種方法來學習。例如：會話練習可以采用查一查，補一補，說一說的方法；句型練習可以采用找一找，歸一歸，比一比的方法；閱讀練習可以采用劃一劃，查一查，寫一寫的方法。我們知道“授之一魚，只供一餐，授之以漁，可享一生�！敝灰獔猿诌\用科學的方法培養(yǎng)學生的預習習慣，學生們一定會學會預習，運用預習，學會學習，為他們的終身學習奠下良好的基礎(chǔ)．
3、爭取得到家長的配合。
為了學生在假期期間更好地完成預習作業(yè)，使預習作業(yè)更有成效，我們學校在放假前特意召開了家長會，把學校的想法、做法與家長們溝通交流，期望家長能做好督促檢查工作。事實證明，我們得到了很多家長的配合。
4、檢查預習效果。
檢查學生預習是否到位，存在有哪些問題，以便今后教學做到有的放矢。開學的第二天，我們學校就組織了各科的預習考試。成績上報學校，并作出效果分析。由于我們英語學科的特點，初二學生在預習單詞和每單元的語法聚焦兩方面比較好，但知識點和句型的靈活運用還有待提高。
二、抓好教研組建設(shè)。

本學年我們學校一直倡導培養(yǎng)學生自主探究學習的能力。要求教學要以學生為主體，轉(zhuǎn)變角色，成為學生學習的引導者、幫助者。在課堂中要求教師要“少講多學”，即教師少講，學生多學。堅持放手原則：凡是學生能讀的就讓學生讀，凡是學生能說的就讓學生說，凡是學生能想的就讓學生想，凡是學生能討論的就讓學生討論，凡是學生能寫的就讓學生寫，凡是學生能做的就讓學生做。給學生自學時間、提問時間、讀書時間和練習時間。在教學中，我們鼓勵學生嘗試地交流、討論、質(zhì)疑、解惑；把問的權(quán)利交給學生，把講的機會讓給學生，讓學生參與到知識形成的過程中，并從中感受到“參與之樂，思維之趣，成功之悅”。

It is like driving from a muddy road into a highway. In the muddy road, path, you would say, as it is formed only by crossing on it many times, flattening the ground to form a smoother area so we can pass. The road is so bumpy and rough, with holes here and there and rocks lying all over. When we drive along this road, we have to be very careful, having a firm grip on the steering wheel, ready for a sudden turn or a large boulder that may appear any second. However, when we drive on a highway, everything becomes different. The road is smooth, straight, and visible. Since there is no unseen obstacle, we may lower our guard, relax a bit, and loosen our grip on the steering wheel. One may even think, if we only have to drive on a smooth straight road like this highway, why would we need a steering wheel?
Faith is unique, just as happiness is. We feel happy for different reasons, we believe for different things. How can we know what we believe in? Recall the last time you are discouraged, and you felt you had lost all hopes in your life. What pulled you back into the world? What pushed you to stand up and continue to strive again? That is your faith, your belief. Faith is what makes you feel you can when others say you can’t.
!Faith is important…, faith is vital…, faith is necessary for us to live our lives. If we do not have faith, we are like a car without a steeling wheel. We can only afford to move along a straight and smooth path, and cannot meet any challenge in our lives. I really think that this lie that we've been sold about disability is the greatest injustice. It makes life hard for us. And that quote, "The only disability in life is a bad attitude," the reason that that's bullshit is because it's just not true, because of the social model of disability. No amount of smiling at a flight of stairs has ever made it turn into a ramp. Never. (Laughter) (Applause) Smiling at a television screen isn't going to make closed captions appear for people who are deaf. No amount of standing in the middle of a bookshop and radiating a positive attitude is going to turn all those books into braille. It's just not going to happen.

從大學畢業(yè)到現(xiàn)在我已走上講臺整整七年，而在過去的七年當中讓我進步最快的就是上個學期。在上個學期，為提高課堂教學效率，打造高效課堂，切實落實“五步短動式教學法”在課堂中的運用，我前后共上了六節(jié)公開課。通過反復的實踐，使我的教學觀念有了一個巨大的轉(zhuǎn)變，對“五步短動式教學法”有了更深的理解，將“五步短動式教學法”融入到每節(jié)課中，盡可能地發(fā)揮學生的主體地位，盡可能地創(chuàng)設(shè)和諧、民主、寬松的教學環(huán)境，讓學生真正成為課堂的主人。下面介紹一下我在教學中的幾點做法。
一、轉(zhuǎn)變課堂教學模式
有人認為歷史是一門老師好教、學生好學的學科。對于學生來說，不需要有什么基礎(chǔ)，只要認真學習就不會有太大的問題。但是在現(xiàn)實教學中我所面臨的問題是：有的學生不愛學，學的不認真、不積極，惰性極強。面對這種情況，我在上課時靈活運用“五步短動式教學法”，將課堂分解為“看一看”、“說一說”、“聽一聽”、“議一議”、“練一練”五個環(huán)節(jié)，穿插于整節(jié)課,使師生之間一直處于互動狀態(tài)，盡量提高學生注意力。敢于放手，注意培養(yǎng)學生的各方面能力，把大部分的講授時間交還給學生使用,發(fā)揮學生的主體作用。在課堂上不
為了能夠給所有學生提供平等的學習機會，我們特別注重創(chuàng)造條件和機會，讓那些遇到學習困難的學生有更多參與課堂學習的機會。我們致力于幫助他們重新獲得自信，并嘗試成功后所帶來的喜悅，從而再次點燃他們對學習的興趣。
二、小組評價機制滲透到課堂內(nèi)外
課堂上組織學生以學習小組為單位參與學習，回答問題即可得到相應的分數(shù)，然后把分數(shù)統(tǒng)計作為評選“優(yōu)秀小組”的依據(jù)。尤其對一些學困生，我往往采用學困生答對問題加雙倍分，幫助他們樹立自信心，不放棄學習。利用小組評價機制也打破了課堂沉悶、死板的狀態(tài)，激發(fā)了學生主動學習的熱情。我還把小組評價機制沿用到課后的作業(yè)和知識點背誦的檢查中。在作業(yè)中，書寫工整、規(guī)范并且及時改錯的就給予加分;而對于那些不認真完成作業(yè)、不及時改錯的就減分，并鼓勵他們在課堂上通過積極參與課堂將因為自己所丟的分數(shù)賺回來。在知識點背誦的檢查中，凡是按照老師要求全組同學都背誦完的就給予加分，班上第一個背誦完的小組給予雙倍加分。大大提升了學生學習的積極性。通過一個學期的實踐，證明小組評價機制的運用是行之有效的。
三、重視學生興趣的.培養(yǎng)
“愛好是最好的導師”，沒有興趣，學習就會成為負擔。有了興趣，學習就成為一種需求，就學得輕松愉快，動力無窮。歷史課是一門非常有趣的科目，一節(jié)優(yōu)秀的歷史課應該設(shè)法將生動、鮮活的歷史呈現(xiàn)在學生面前，不能只是枯燥地灌輸和強迫學生死記那些歷史知識。在我進行歷史教學時，經(jīng)常運用多媒體教學手段，播放一些紀錄片、電影資料或相關(guān)的歌曲，創(chuàng)造歷史情境，讓學生置身其中，激發(fā)他們對歷史的學習興趣。例如，在講授《鄭和下西洋》時，我播放了一段紀錄片資料，不需要深入解釋，學生就能理解這個部分的主要內(nèi)容。在講授《蒙古的建立及元朝的統(tǒng)一》中的“行省制”時，通過課件演示將抽象的內(nèi)容具體化，調(diào)動學生的各種感觀，加強對知識的掌握。學生對歷史產(chǎn)生了興趣，課堂上所講的知識會更加深刻，提高了學習效果。
四、構(gòu)建歷史知識體系
構(gòu)建歷史知識體系有助于厘清歷史知識的線索，使其更具系統(tǒng)性和條理性，從而提升學生的學習成績。因此，在我講授新課時，我非常注重與舊知識點的關(guān)聯(lián)，并重視引導學生構(gòu)建自己的“歷史知識體系”，力求讓他們形成每一課、每一個單元以及整本書的獨特的知識體系。這樣，在復習時，學生的思路將更加清晰明了，能夠節(jié)省大量時間，顯著提高學習效率。
在過去的教育教學工作中，我發(fā)現(xiàn)自己存在諸多不足之處。然而，在未來的教學中，我將堅持不斷努力和探索，積累寶貴經(jīng)驗，以進一步提升我的教學水平，幫助學生成績更上一層樓。感謝大家！
