在《速度與激情》系列電影的主力演員保羅·沃克意外去世后，電影制作方希望通過(guò)制作一首歌曲以紀(jì)念和緬懷保羅。作為該歌曲制作人之一的查理·普斯在2014年7月寫了一段基本的歌詞，并將歌名取為《See You Again》，創(chuàng)作過(guò)程僅用時(shí)十分鐘。之后在多次改動(dòng)下，才有了正式版本的誕生。
在創(chuàng)作這首歌時(shí)，查理·普斯說(shuō)他自己也有一位朋友突然去世，于是寫下了這首聞?wù)呗錅I的歌曲 。而歌曲說(shuō)唱部分則是由維茲·卡利法本人寫的。在接受采訪時(shí)，當(dāng)記者問(wèn)他為什么這首歌取得如此大成功時(shí)，維茲說(shuō)這首歌雖然是為保羅·沃克創(chuàng)作的，但卻深深打動(dòng)了許多人，讓他們不會(huì)僅停留在緬懷保羅·沃克的層面上。
