科目
GMAT考試由分析寫作、數學和語文三部分組成。分別為:
1.分析性寫作評價(Analytical Writing Assessment)
兩個獨立的寫作部分組成,即觀點陳述(Analysis of an Issue)和論證辨析(Analysis of an Argument)。考生各有30分鐘的時間來完成上述兩篇文章。文章必須用英語完成,并用鍵盤輸入電腦。
2.數學部分(Quantitative)
該部分包括37個多項選擇題,內容涉及數據充分性(Data Sufficiency)和問題解答(Problem solving)兩種類型。
3.語文部分(Verbal)
語文部分包括41個多項選擇題,內容涉及閱讀理解(Reading Comprehension)、評論性推理(Critical Reasoning)和句子改錯(Sentence Correction)三種類型。
分析寫作滿分6分,后兩項合計滿分為800分。一般大學入學要求550至600分,入學標準高的學府,更可能要求650分或以上。
題型
最新GMAT考試包括七個部分(Section)試題,每個Section的考試時間為30分鐘,其中有閱讀理解(Reading Comprehension)、句子改錯(Sentence Correction)、問題求解(Problem Solving)、數據填充(Data Sufficiency)以及原因評述(Critical Reasoning)各一個部分。剩下兩個部分的題型分布都不一樣。這七個Sections試題中有一個是試測性部分,不計入GMAT成績。但由于分辨不出哪個部分不計分,因此所有部分的試題均要認真回答。
GMAT(1)閱讀理解
提供閱讀文章三或四篇,共設25個問題,每個問題有四個可供選擇的答案。文章內容涉及到人文科學、社會學、物理學和生物學等領域。
(2)句子改錯
共有25道題。出題形式是:一般給出一個句子,在句子一部分或全部的下方用線標明,要求考生針對劃線的部分,從五個選項中作出最佳選擇。請注意:答案(A)往往就是劃線部分本身。
(3)問題求解
共有20道問題。試題形式可能是文字敘述形式,要求考生進行計算,也可能要求對圖、表進行解釋。內容涉及大量的算術、代數和幾何的基本定理。
(4)數據填充
共有25個問題,每道題中均含有數學問題和兩個與之相關的說明。考生必須作出判斷,利用這些信息能否解答試題:(A)僅第一個數據說明可以解題,而第二個不行;(B)僅第二個數據說明可以解題,而第一個不行;(C)兩個數據說明放在一起可以解題,但任何單獨一個均不行;(D)任何一個數據說明均能解題;(E)兩個數據說明放在一起都不能解題,必須增添新數據。
(5)原因評述
共有20道問題。該部分試題有下列幾種出題形式:
a)推斷與設想(Inference or Assumption)。一般是先給出一段陳述、論證、意見或事實,然后要求從陳述中的概括和推斷兩個方面作出最佳選擇。試題往往會問:在下面的陳述中能得出上述的推斷嗎?
b)缺陷(Flaws)。要求考生選擇的最佳答案或者代表在陳述中出現的錯誤,或者如果它確實的話,可以淡化其結論。試題常常會問:下述情況如果確實的話,是否影響到上述答案?
c)事實陳述(Statements of Facts)。要求考生選出的答案是對陳述的贊同或概括。試題常常問:如果上述情況準確,是否可以肯定下面所述正確?
