        當老師的好處

          i come from a family of teachers . my fa ther was a teacher , my siste r is a teache r , and i am a teache r . why do we have st rong pas sion for this profession ?

          for one thing , i consider myself not only a teacher , but also a learner . being a teacher allows me, in fact forces me , to be a learne r . first , i must prepare all that i will teach , during which proces s i myself lea rn a lot . secondly , i mu st find ways of helping my students to under st and their assignments .

          thirdly , i must then try to unde rstand and res pond in a helpful way to my students’ideas . fourthly , i mu st for ce myself to be creative, becau se if i deliver a boring lesson , my students will feel bored . and to be c reative , i mu st learn more .

          mor eove r , a teacher’s job is not ( and does not need to be) a routine . if you find your self bor ed with doing the same thing over and over again , you have only yourself to blame . this is because a teacher has a gr eat deal mor e independence and cont rol ove r what he does than many othe r profes sionals do .

          also , you may find teaching a“ people job .”i t involves inter acting with students and helping them to int eract with each other . a good teacher will make his ideas alive, and will awaken ideas in the minds of his students . in the process , he will benefit by get ting to know his students and their ways of thinking .

          in sum, ther e is a great deal one can get out of being a teacher . i s uppose not all teache rs get all that they can out of their profession . some may get ve ry little . but for those who a re suited by temper ament to be teachers , it is a perfect job .
