北京故宮位于北京市中心，是明清兩代的皇宮，故宮有稱為“紫禁城”。故宮經(jīng)歷有明清兩個朝代和24個皇帝。故宮規(guī)模宏大，西東寬750米，南北長960米，占地72萬平方米，建筑積15萬多平方米，有房屋1000多間，是世界歷史上最大最完整的古代建筑。進了故宮的大門，你就會看見五座漢白玉石橋，為什么是五座，而不是七座、八座，甚至十座呢?原來，古時候的皇帝都必須帶有仁、義、禮、智、信這種特點，所以才是五座石橋的。橋上有上百根石柱，柱子上刻著無數(shù)的小獅子，那么多的'小獅子，有的頷首低眉，好像是憂悶而不開心的樣子，有的張牙武爪，好像是展示自己的威武。 故宮的御花園，原名宮后椀，占地一萬二千平方米。以鉄安殿為中心，園林建筑采用石磚來修建，左右對稱的格磚緊湊。殿東北的堆秀山上筑御景亭，每年重陽節(jié)，皇上就在此登高。
