對(duì)求職者來(lái)說(shuō),cover letter不同于其他普通信函,它可能直接關(guān)系到求職者能否最終獲得面試機(jī)會(huì)。所以,求職者在寫cover letter時(shí)一定要小心、謹(jǐn)慎,需特別注意以下五個(gè)方面。
1. 禮貌得體。在寫cover letter時(shí),求職者可首先通過(guò)致電招聘公司等方式,盡可能地獲得將來(lái)讀cover letter的人的姓名,這樣在信的開(kāi)頭,便可用“Dear +名字”的形式稱呼對(duì)方。若實(shí)在無(wú)法了解到對(duì)方姓名,也要盡可能地詢問(wèn)到對(duì)方的商務(wù)頭銜,用“Dear +頭銜”的方式稱呼對(duì)方,例如“Dear Recruitment Manager”或“Dear Human Resources Manager”等,這些稱呼要比“Dear Sir”或“Dear Madam”更恰當(dāng)。
2. 態(tài)度誠(chéng)懇。求職者應(yīng)針對(duì)應(yīng)聘公司的特點(diǎn)和職位要求有針對(duì)性地寫cover letter,信的字里行間要透露出你想為應(yīng)聘公司服務(wù)的意愿,多表述自己能為公司做什么,少講述自己通過(guò)該應(yīng)聘職位能獲得什么好處。求職者在寫信的過(guò)程中,一定要杜絕出現(xiàn)錯(cuò)字連篇的現(xiàn)象,否則不但會(huì)給人輕率和缺乏誠(chéng)意的印象,還會(huì)使對(duì)方對(duì)求職者的能力產(chǎn)生懷疑。
3. 實(shí)事求是、恰如其分地介紹自己的'能力和特長(zhǎng)。適度的謙虛是美德,但過(guò)分的謙虛是缺乏自信的表現(xiàn),只會(huì)讓自己錯(cuò)失良機(jī)。因此,求職者在寫cover letter時(shí),應(yīng)對(duì)自己的能力有個(gè)準(zhǔn)確的估量,然后實(shí)事求是地予以陳述。只有自己樹(shù)立了信心,才能獲得別人的認(rèn)同和贊賞。但同時(shí),求職者也要注意,信中切忌出現(xiàn)過(guò)分吹噓的話,例如“我能適應(yīng)各種工作”“聽(tīng)說(shuō)貴公司最近效益不太好,我完全有能力改變這種狀況”以及“我做過(guò)幾項(xiàng)課題,貴公司遇到的此類技術(shù)問(wèn)題,我一定能夠解決”等。剛出校門的大學(xué)生尤其要注意這一點(diǎn),雖然大學(xué)生有一定的理論基礎(chǔ),但尚缺乏實(shí)踐經(jīng)驗(yàn),所以在cover letter中要盡量避免使用“一定” “肯定” “第一”“絕對(duì)”“完全可以”“保證能做到”等大話。
4. 篇幅適當(dāng)。如果cover letter太短的話,可能無(wú)法清晰表達(dá)出求職者的想法,也會(huì)使求職者顯得誠(chéng)意不足;但如果cover letter過(guò)長(zhǎng),又會(huì)有冗繁之嫌,可能引起讀信者的反感。一般來(lái)說(shuō),cover letter以A4紙的半頁(yè)至一頁(yè)篇幅為宜。如果求職者確實(shí)有重要的內(nèi)容需要詳加闡述,也不宜超過(guò)兩頁(yè)。
5. 切忌一信多投!耙恍哦嗤丁笔莄over letter的大忌。求職者要針對(duì)不同的應(yīng)聘公司和職位要求寫不同內(nèi)容的cover letter。如果求職者抱著“以不變應(yīng)萬(wàn)變”的態(tài)度,將一封cover letter重復(fù)地投遞到不同公司,可能會(huì)讓招聘公司認(rèn)為你偷懶且誠(chéng)心不夠,極易被拒。

格式與態(tài)度: 寫英文求職信時(shí),開(kāi)頭寫每段第一句話時(shí), 要頂格寫, 一定不要空兩格. 這點(diǎn)很重要, 請(qǐng)你注意; 不要用開(kāi)玩笑的口吻與對(duì)方套近乎, 要嚴(yán)肅, 認(rèn)真地寫.這能使對(duì)方感覺(jué)你很重視這件事情; 簡(jiǎn)短介紹自己的專業(yè)與才能. 重點(diǎn)寫清楚你的能力可以滿足對(duì)方公司的需要.
各人資料: 寫英文求職信時(shí),寫信人應(yīng)述明自己的年齡或出生年月,教育背景,尤其是和應(yīng)征的職位有關(guān)的訓(xùn)練或教育科目、工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)或特殊的技能;如無(wú)實(shí)際經(jīng)驗(yàn),告知對(duì)方你正在學(xué)習(xí)經(jīng)驗(yàn)!
寫英文求職信要點(diǎn):
篇幅不易過(guò)長(zhǎng), 簡(jiǎn)短為好;態(tài)度誠(chéng)懇, 不需華麗 詞匯 ; 讓對(duì)方感覺(jué)親切, 自信, 實(shí)在即可;不要誤看其他錯(cuò)誤的寫作方法, 以免耽誤了你的求職機(jī)會(huì).
紙張的選用: 建議你用灰色,黃褐色或米色紙作最終打印信紙. 要配合信封的顏色.
書寫:字體要寫得整潔可辯,使用打字機(jī)把信打出來(lái).具有專業(yè)感.
附郵票: 英語(yǔ) 求職信內(nèi)需附加郵票或回址信封.
語(yǔ)法: 準(zhǔn)確無(wú)誤的語(yǔ)法,標(biāo)點(diǎn)拼寫使讀信人感到舒暢.錯(cuò)誤的語(yǔ)法或拼寫則十分明顯,一望即知.且不可把收信人的姓名或公司地址拼錯(cuò)了.
第一、一般建議:
或許你可以從網(wǎng)上或?qū)W校提供的求職指引得到一些寫個(gè)人簡(jiǎn)歷的模板,但雇主通常對(duì)千篇一律的求職信不感興趣。因此,千萬(wàn)不要復(fù)制一些標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的模板。你的CV應(yīng)該是你自己的,個(gè)性化的,但又跟個(gè)性化不同。
首先,個(gè)人簡(jiǎn)歷應(yīng)該用文字處理軟件來(lái)打出,并用質(zhì)量好的打印機(jī)打印。注意不要用太多不同的字體和大小,不要用其它顏色。但推薦用加粗或者下劃線標(biāo)出少數(shù)的重要的關(guān)鍵詞,便于雇主找尋他想看到的詞。
其次,不要忘記在計(jì)算機(jī)上用"拼寫和語(yǔ)法"工具查拼寫錯(cuò)誤和語(yǔ)法錯(cuò)誤,或者讓其他英語(yǔ)水平好的朋友檢查。
再者,強(qiáng)烈推薦用Word工具欄的"項(xiàng)目符號(hào)"或"編號(hào)".想一想雇主可能半個(gè)小時(shí)要讀完100封CV,所有CV的下場(chǎng)只有兩者:可考慮或者垃圾桶。因此,你的個(gè)人簡(jiǎn)歷一定要設(shè)計(jì)成能快速閱讀,短而精,引起讀者興趣。
還有,針對(duì)不同的雇主和要求對(duì)個(gè)人簡(jiǎn)歷作一些輕微而必要的修改,這一點(diǎn)用文字處理軟件是一件簡(jiǎn)單的事。
最后,寫好草稿之后,讓你的老師,家人或者你的朋友看,問(wèn)他們假設(shè)他們是雇主的話應(yīng)如何改動(dòng)才會(huì)好一點(diǎn)。重新再看多幾次,用紅筆修改,使簡(jiǎn)歷顯得更精簡(jiǎn),可讀性更高,更容易理解。
第二,動(dòng)筆之前
坐下來(lái)仔細(xì)閱讀你想申請(qǐng)的工作的廣告,甚至他們并沒(méi)有打出招聘廣告你也可以試一下。列出他們的要求,比較你自己的技能,教育程度,工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)等。很多時(shí)候,招聘廣告所給的.信息并不足夠,除了站在他們的角度想象一些可能的要求之外,你還必須對(duì)相關(guān)的雇主和/或其公司的情況,例如公司結(jié)構(gòu),產(chǎn)品,成功之處,發(fā)展宏圖等進(jìn)行搜索作一些了解。搜索的途徑主要有:因特網(wǎng),其公司的正式文件、宣傳資料、報(bào)告,報(bào)紙報(bào)道等。
第三,書寫風(fēng)格(Style)
大體上有兩種。第一種是按時(shí)間循序式(Chronological),所有的信息包括在鮮明的標(biāo)題下,例如教育程度、工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)等。這一種方法容易入手一些。第二種稱為技能針對(duì)式(Skills Based),就是根據(jù)技能要求列標(biāo)題,所有個(gè)人信息分別列舉在相應(yīng)標(biāo)題下。這一種比較高難度。
第四,簡(jiǎn)歷長(zhǎng)度和紙張格式
1-2頁(yè)。一定不要超過(guò)三張A4紙(特殊工種除外),因?yàn)楣椭鳑](méi)有那么耐心和時(shí)間看完你的業(yè)績(jī)。注意,大部分情況下用正式的白色紙張和黑色字體,但某些情況可以改變。例如你申請(qǐng)的是電視臺(tái)節(jié)目或者圖像設(shè)計(jì)等相關(guān)工作時(shí),可以考慮用彩色紙張,別出心裁的設(shè)計(jì)等。
第五,組成部分
1,個(gè)人資料(PERSONAL DETAILS)
包括姓名(建議用英文名字加上自己的姓以便聯(lián)系和稱呼),電話號(hào)碼,電子郵件地址,聯(lián)絡(luò)地址(因在信封上和求職信中已包括,可以考慮不列出),生日(各地文化不同,通常沒(méi)必要列出),性別(如果你用英文名的話不必列出),還有個(gè)人網(wǎng)址(如果你覺(jué)得制作得不錯(cuò)的話)。沒(méi)必要列出國(guó)籍(在國(guó)內(nèi)的話多此一舉,在國(guó)外的話此舉會(huì)降低你的面試機(jī)會(huì))
2,教育程度(EDUCATION)
主要列出大學(xué)或者?频膶W(xué)習(xí)情況。所學(xué)科目,所得學(xué)位或畢業(yè)程度,每年所學(xué)的跟求職工種相關(guān)的課程,還有自己參加的相關(guān)項(xiàng)目(Project),所寫的論文(Thesis/dissertation)等。另外如果獲得獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金或其他嘉獎(jiǎng)的話不妨列出。
高中畢業(yè)情況很簡(jiǎn)要的列出,比高中遠(yuǎn)的學(xué)歷沒(méi)必要列出。
建議按照由近到遠(yuǎn)的時(shí)間循序列出。
3,工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)(WORK EXPERIENCES)
列出你最近的工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)。給出你雇主的名字,你自己的職位,還有非常重要的是,你在工作崗位上所作的成績(jī)和貢獻(xiàn)。如果沒(méi)有突出的成績(jī),可以列出你的職能,例如接待多少客戶,完成多少項(xiàng)目,協(xié)助完成多少項(xiàng)公司交易等。
另外,只要是與所求職位相關(guān)的工作經(jīng)驗(yàn),即使是很短期的Part-time工作,也不妨把它列出來(lái)。
4,技能長(zhǎng)處(SKILLS)
包括語(yǔ)言能力,計(jì)算機(jī)水平和經(jīng)驗(yàn),有否駕駛照等
5,個(gè)人興趣(INTREST / EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES)
簡(jiǎn)要地列出你的一些個(gè)人興趣,例如體育項(xiàng)目(如果你跟雇主的興趣相同的話更佳)、集體活動(dòng)、志愿工作等,尤其是如果你在這些活動(dòng)中擔(dān)任領(lǐng)袖(leadership)的話。注意一定要簡(jiǎn)練。舉個(gè)例子,如果你曾擔(dān)任系籃球隊(duì)隊(duì)長(zhǎng)的話,雇主沒(méi)有興趣知道具體你什么時(shí)候擔(dān)任,打過(guò)幾場(chǎng)比賽,贏過(guò)幾場(chǎng)比賽等。假如他們對(duì)這些有興趣的話會(huì)在面試的時(shí)候問(wèn)你。
這一部分可以讓雇主從側(cè)面了解你的群體協(xié)作程度和正面的社交性格。
6,推薦信和/或推薦人(REFERENCES/REFEREES)
通常列出兩個(gè)名字,一個(gè)來(lái)自大學(xué),另一個(gè)來(lái)自任何工作環(huán)境(全職/Part-time/義工)。如果沒(méi)有的話,可以列出對(duì)你非常了解的比你年長(zhǎng)的家庭朋友。然后給出他們的職位,工作電話和夜間電話(事先必須獲得他們的同意)。
7,可選項(xiàng)(Optional extras)
在開(kāi)頭可以采用個(gè)性化的聲明(Personal Profile/Objective statement),用兩到三個(gè)句子概括你的能力,資格,希望和計(jì)劃。這一點(diǎn)可以引起雇主閱讀的興趣。
另外,你還可以在簡(jiǎn)歷上加一張你自己的照片(掃描或者在文檔粘貼)。但照片必須是積極的照得很好的,而且是"活潑"的(不要看起來(lái)病態(tài)、囚態(tài)、魔態(tài)或者古板)。
另外,差點(diǎn)忘了一點(diǎn),就是在前面加上你的職位目標(biāo)(JOB OBJECTIVE),通常是招聘廣告所列出的職位。
第六,求職信(Cover letter)
第七,申請(qǐng)表格(Application forms)
對(duì)于某些工作,雇主會(huì)先發(fā)給你相關(guān)申請(qǐng)表格。這時(shí)你仍然需要寫一封求職信(Covering letter),以及你的個(gè)人簡(jiǎn)歷(CV)(除非雇主有表明不必要)。
注意,填寫表格與寫CV一樣,要求干凈和清晰,用黑色鋼筆或圓珠筆(便于復(fù)印)。
推薦:用另外的紙張寫出你的答案,或者先把表格復(fù)印下來(lái),在復(fù)印件上寫和改動(dòng),最后確定才把它抄到正件。
完成之后,復(fù)印一次然后保留復(fù)印件,以備面試之用。
注:可能的話,保留所有已發(fā)送的求職信,申請(qǐng)表格和個(gè)人簡(jiǎn)歷,以及打電話詢問(wèn)的紀(jì)錄和你所詢問(wèn)的人的姓名,或者把其保存到電腦里。
第八,面試(INTERVIEW)
學(xué)會(huì)如何把握一個(gè)面試機(jī)會(huì)同樣是十分重要的。你可以從圖書館或者因特網(wǎng)上找到一些面試常見(jiàn)的問(wèn)題,然后讓你的老師,同學(xué)或者朋友跟你進(jìn)行練習(xí)。
到了真正面試時(shí),積極和自信(但不要過(guò)于自信),以及端正的衣冠和禮貌是必要的。面試過(guò)程要謙虛,語(yǔ)言清晰,直截了當(dāng)。與考官的眼神接觸建議在六成到八成五之間。
如果你被拒絕的話,善意的雇主通常會(huì)回顧面試的過(guò)程,告訴你如何提高關(guān)于個(gè)人簡(jiǎn)歷和面試技巧。否則你大可以虛心地請(qǐng)教他/她需要改進(jìn)的地方,以便以后吸取教訓(xùn)。而且,說(shuō)不定,雇主還會(huì)因此保留對(duì)你的關(guān)注。所以,如果你以消極方式對(duì)待失敗的話,你會(huì)給雇主一個(gè)很差的印象,不但以后不會(huì)有機(jī)會(huì),而且你永遠(yuǎn)不能由此吸取教訓(xùn),迎接下一個(gè)挑戰(zhàn)。
