Reading Comprehension questions are designed to test a wide range of abilities required to read and understand the kinds of prose commonly encountered in graduate school. Those abilities include:
understanding the meaning of individual words
understanding the meaning of individual sentences
understanding the meaning of paragraphs and larger bodies of text
distinguishing between minor and major points
summarizing a passage
drawing conclusions from the information provided

其中identifying the author’s perspective是一項要求我們識別視角的能力。除此以外，還有Try to distinguish ideas that the author is advancing from those he or she is merely reporting.我們在讀文章的過程中，需要區分哪些觀點是作者所支持的，以及哪些觀點只是作者轉述的。這里就要提到GRE閱讀視角最重要的二分法：作者的觀點VS作者引用的觀點。
