          Last summer vacation, Tom took a part-time job in a company.His office was very small at the end of the second floor.One Friday evening, he finished his work and went out of his office.It’s already six o’clock.He looked around and found everybody had gone home.The building was very quiet, and the main lights were all out.He ran down to see whether he could find somebody, but it was too late.The doors all locked, and he was locked in the building.Tom went back to his office to phone the doorkeeper, but the phone did not work.He tried another one, and that phone did not work, either.Tom realized the phones in the office had been locked for the weekend.He thought, “I had to be here for the weekend”.Suddenly he remembered that in the reception room there was a phone that was always on.So he rushed to the reception room.The door was locked, too.So he went into the room through the window, and phoned the doorkeeper.Half an hour later, the doorkeeper came, and Tome went home.

          M: Sure, some of the time, but that’s also true of any brothers who grew up together in the same family.

          Uncle John Was Saved

          When Uncle John was 85 years old, most of his families and relatives were already dead.He lived by himself in a big house.The only person who often talked to him was his nephew Tom.Tom called several times a week just for few minutes to say hello and see if everything was OK.

          One morning Tom phoned Uncle John again.Again no answer.Two hours later he called the 3rd time.Still no answer, he got very anxious.So he called Uncle John’s next door neighbor.Tom told her that he was worried about Uncle John and asked her to see what was wrong.A while later, the neighbor phoned Tom.She said nervously, “Tom, I’m sorry it took so long.Uncle John didn’t answer the door, so I used his spare key.I found him lying on the bathroom floor.I could not wake him up.” Tom called the doctor immediately, and then rushed to Uncle John’s house.When he got there, the doctor had already been there.The doctor said that he was just in time to save him.

          聽(tīng)力測(cè)試在高考英語(yǔ)試題中占有五分之一的比重。要提高聽(tīng)力,在高考中出彩,掌握有效的應(yīng)試技巧是十分重要的。

          一、試題形式

          目前高考及其他中學(xué)階段各種考試采用的聽(tīng)力測(cè)試題型主要為三種:短對(duì)話、短篇以及長(zhǎng)對(duì)話。答題形式有兩種:多項(xiàng)選擇題(Multiple Choice)和填空題(Spot Dictation)。其中填空題有的空格要求考生聽(tīng)懂長(zhǎng)對(duì)話內(nèi)容,填其“意義”而不是細(xì)節(jié)性的具體單詞。

          短對(duì)話只聽(tīng)1遍;其他兩大題,各聽(tīng)2遍,耗時(shí)約20—30分鐘。

          二、應(yīng)試技巧

          ★聽(tīng)短對(duì)話?忌谔幚韽V播調(diào)試聲音后,即可“掃描”短對(duì)話中的選項(xiàng)。據(jù)此展望第1個(gè)短對(duì)話可能出現(xiàn)的話題。

          假如考生看到的是:

          A.On March 2

          B.On March 3

          C.On March 5

          D.On March 8

          則考生可以判斷,第1題話題涉及3月的某一天;考生一聽(tīng)見(jiàn)錄音第1題及問(wèn)句,由于已有所知悉,立刻可做出正確選擇。

          不要等到第一題念畢,問(wèn)句提出后再去看四個(gè)選項(xiàng)。一般兩道聽(tīng)力題(短對(duì)話)之間相隔6秒。如早早完成,即可提前思考第2題。

          又如題干較長(zhǎng)的題目:

          A.They’d better not go riding.

          B.Riding a bike is a great idea.

          C.It’s not good riding in the rain.

          D.They can go riding half an hour later.

          考生在“掃描”時(shí),預(yù)先知道該題涉及騎自行車(chē);其中可能涉及騎車(chē)的時(shí)間,也可能是涉及一次具體的騎車(chē)活動(dòng)。

          這種“超前”瀏覽選項(xiàng)的本領(lǐng)可以培養(yǎng),有的考生可以提前“掃描”3~5題,并保留一定印象。

          [注] 聽(tīng)短對(duì)話時(shí)切忌走神。萬(wàn)一走神,比如說(shuō)第4題沒(méi)聽(tīng)清楚,你的本能反應(yīng)是想再聽(tīng),想回憶——但根本不可能,所以此刻只好猜題。猜題還有1/4的希望;反思的話,不巧把第5題也給漏掉!

          ★聽(tīng)短文。聽(tīng)短文時(shí)要學(xué)會(huì)“記要”(taking notes)。記要有兩類(lèi),一是用符號(hào)記下關(guān)鍵信息(如數(shù)量大小、時(shí)間順序等);一是用具體文字記。這是因?yàn)槎涛暮臅r(shí)長(zhǎng),有人會(huì)“前聽(tīng)后忘記”。另外一個(gè)決竅是“超前”瀏覽短篇的選項(xiàng)。如:

          A.Why a company lost its customers.

          B.Why a company went out of business.

          C.How a company went from bad to worse.

          D.How a company got out of its difficult situation.

          考生一掃描就意識(shí)到該題指全文中心思想,并立即分辨出問(wèn)題要么問(wèn)理由(針對(duì)why), 要么講過(guò)程(針對(duì)how)。

          ★聽(tīng)長(zhǎng)對(duì)話。聽(tīng)長(zhǎng)對(duì)話也應(yīng)該有個(gè)“超前”掃描,先對(duì)對(duì)話話題有個(gè)印象。在對(duì)話進(jìn)行時(shí)要注意“細(xì)節(jié)”(detail)和“關(guān)鍵詞” (key words),必要時(shí)也得作“記要”:用鉛筆,在試卷邊(test paper margin)記一下。Taking notes的技巧可以從《高中英語(yǔ)(新世紀(jì)版)》高三年級(jí)的課本中去找。

          三、訓(xùn)練方法

          聽(tīng)力水平的提高有兩種方法:

         。ㄒ唬┎粩嗟亍奥(tīng)”模擬試題。隔天一聽(tīng),每周兩聽(tīng),等等。從當(dāng)年9月起聽(tīng)到次年5月;用過(guò)的試卷達(dá)40~50套。這種應(yīng)試訓(xùn)練要注意:

          1.每次訓(xùn)練宜一氣呵成。高考聽(tīng)力是一氣呵成,中間無(wú)間歇的。

          2.每次訓(xùn)練要嘗試“超前”技巧。

          3.聽(tīng)完,對(duì)好答案,要反思,查一查自己丟分的道理,查一查自己的“軟肋”。

          (二)抓基本功。選擇材料,學(xué)習(xí)聽(tīng)取“意群”(sense group),聽(tīng)“連讀”(liaison),聽(tīng)“重讀”(stressed words)以及“略讀”(reduction)。為什么?因?yàn)槟壳案呖悸?tīng)力并不采用“真實(shí)語(yǔ)言材料”(authentic material)。在真實(shí)生活中的對(duì)話,處處用到上述4種口語(yǔ)“技巧”。一般速度快,句子短或者不完整。所以從長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)看,要真正提高聽(tīng)力水平,應(yīng)從基本功開(kāi)始,在迎接高考之初,第二種準(zhǔn)備方法為時(shí)不晚,關(guān)鍵是勤奮。

          四、材料信息

          關(guān)于聽(tīng)力模擬試卷,建議選用專(zhuān)業(yè)出版社的產(chǎn)品,如上海外語(yǔ)教育出版社。

          關(guān)于聽(tīng)力基本功訓(xùn)練,建議選用《英語(yǔ)(新世紀(jì)版)聽(tīng)力》(上海外語(yǔ)教育出版社)。該書(shū)1~3冊(cè),每單元后都有Mechanic Skills的專(zhuān)項(xiàng)訓(xùn)練,附有“意群”、“連讀”、“重讀”及“略讀”的實(shí)例。

          另外,如考生有條件,進(jìn)口教材中有許多精彩的聽(tīng)力訓(xùn)練材料可選用,如:Longman出版的Impact Listening 1~3,配有CD。 至于書(shū)市上流行的VOA, BBC及CNN的各種CD,可以選用一些,但必須由老師精選。

          聽(tīng)力材料話題一定要廣泛,話題要符合《課程標(biāo)準(zhǔn)》中提及的項(xiàng)目。

          五、注意事項(xiàng)

          生詞的拼寫(xiě)及朗讀也應(yīng)同步展開(kāi)。單詞讀音不準(zhǔn),聽(tīng)力的準(zhǔn)確性受損;單詞的拼寫(xiě)不準(zhǔn),即便聽(tīng)懂了的也寫(xiě)不出來(lái)。
