　　英語畢業論文格式及字體大小要求

　　語言和內容是評判一篇英語論文質量高低的重要依據；但是，寫作格式規范與否亦是一個不可忽略的衡量標準。因此，規范英語論文的格式,使之與國際學術慣例接軌，對我們從事英語教學，英語論文寫作，促進國際學術交流都具有重要意義。

　　一、基本格式：

　　論文只能打印在每頁紙的一面上，不得打印在正反面上。論文紙的大小尺寸為A4紙打印。側面裝訂。

　　二、題名頁：

　　論文題名頁上打印格式基本相近，中、英文對照，中文題目頁在第一頁，英文題目頁在第二頁。一般由頂部往下三分之一頁處打印論文題目，論文題目都用大寫字母，下隔八行打印論文調查者姓名、所屬電大，再下隔八行視實際情況打上提交日期XX年XX月XX日以及課程名稱：論文項目設計。

　　上述各項內容都應打印在論文題名頁的中間部位。

　　三、摘要及關鍵詞頁

　　摘要及關鍵詞頁上打印格式同論文題名頁，中、英文對照，中文題目頁在上，英文題目頁在下。一般根據提要的內容多少安排打印。中文題目摘要采用宋體一號，加粗，摘要正文部分采用宋體，小四號。關鍵字題目部分采用宋體三號，加粗，關鍵字短語部分采用宋體，小四號。英文題目摘要采用Times New Roman字體，字號為一號，加粗，摘要正文部分采用Times New Roman字體，字號為小四。

　　四、致謝頁

　　學員可以自選致謝頁，一般不要求寫中文。英文大標題采用Times New Roman字體，字號為一號，加粗，正文部分采用Times New Roman字體，字號為小四。

　　五、目錄頁

　　英文大標題采用Times New Roman字體，字號為一號，加粗，小標題部分統一采用Times New Roman字體，字號為三號，加粗。注意在右方注明對應的頁號，中間虛線連接。

　　六、正文頁

　　論文的正文需隔行打印，正文采用Times New Roman字體，字號為小四。大標題為Times New Roman字體，字號為三號、加粗字。副標題為Times New Roman字體，字號為三號、加粗。

　　七、尾注、參考文獻頁與附錄頁

　　尾注、參考文獻頁與附錄頁(大標題采用Times New Roman字體，字號為一號，加粗)正文部分如尾注、參考文獻目錄與附錄可不必隔行打印，字體為Times New Roman小四。

　　一、問題與分析

　　學生論文"致謝"寫作時存在的問題主要表現在以下三個方面。

　　1.對象不明。例如:

　　i am grateful tomy parents， without their support， i cannotfinish my thesis. i am also thankful to all my classmates andteachers， without their encouragement， i cannotgetdown towri瞭ing the thesis. and finally iwant to thank the foreign languagesdepartmentofxxx university forprovidingme a computer to typeand print outmy thesis.

　　從對象分析，該"致謝"盡管提到了父母、同學和老師，但排名先后順序不當，而對導師(supervisor)的指導卻只字不提。

　　看來，學生還不清楚"致謝"的主要對象應該是誰。

　　2.文體混亂。例如:

　　itwas really a laborious task to accomplishmy thesis. manypeople gaveme support and help in the process ofwriting the pa瞤er. i’d like first to givemy gratitude tomy dear teacher， who generously gaveme her kind help and instructions dur瞚ng thewhole process ofmy paper-writing. then i’d like to givemymany thanks tomy classmateswho helpedme a lotwithmy in瞗ormation collecting and paper-polishing.

　　從文體上分析，此"致謝"混用了正式文體和非正式文體。

　　如laborious， gratitude屬正式文體語言，短語a lot和縮合詞i’d屬非正式文體語言。另外在此用dear teacher來表示"導師"也不當或欠妥。可見學生尚未掌握"致謝"寫作的文體。

　　3.內容牽強。例如:

　　iwould like to thankmy supervisor， mrs. xxx who helpedme draw an outline of the thesis and correctmy mistakes in thethesis. also iwant to thank allmy teachers. i learned a lot fromthem， notonly the knowledge butalso theworking attitude. more瞣ver， i thankmy classmates aswel.l during the studywe becamegood friends， and spenthappy time. and finally i am grateful tomy parents， without their support， i cannotaccomplishmy study.

　　從內容來看，本"致謝"除第一句外，其他句子都與撰寫論文無關，這表明學生不知道"致謝"內容實質是什么。

　　二、解決對策

　　在對以上所存在問題的分析過程中，筆者對論文"致謝"的寫作也進行了一些研究。《英語科研論文寫作概要》一書中這樣指出:"in western academic circles， there are strict con瞯entions aboutwhat should be put in such an acknowledgement，and theway in which it should be written."[1]由此可見，"致謝"寫作是有一定規定的，因循慣例是關鍵，也是解決"致謝"寫作問題的對策。具體對策有以下三點:

　　1. 明確"致謝"的對象

　　《英語科研論文寫作概要》一書中還指出:"generallyspeaking， thanks are rendered only to those who have helped thewriter academically…."[2]。具體說來，"致謝的對象是在研究過程以及在論文的寫作過程中、對作者的研究和成文起了一定的指導、幫助、支持和鼓勵作用的人員。"[3]由此看來，英語專業學士學位論文"致謝"的對象應主要是對論文進行指導的導師，同時包括對論文提出過建議或意見的教師、同學和朋友，以及對論文寫作提供具體幫助的機構和關心論文的作者家人等。

　　2. 采用"致謝"寫作的文體

　　"畢業論文或學士論文是一種研究性論文( research pa瞤er)。它的語氣、格調和格式不同于非正式文體……畢業論文是一種正規作文，必須遵循正規作文的規范。"[4]英語畢業論文屬研究性論文，在寫作上理應采用正式文體，"致謝"的文體也在其中，包括宜用學術性詞匯、采用單個動詞、使用單詞的全拼形式、多用平行句子。例如:i also extend my sincere gratitude to professorxxx for hisconstant support throughoutmywork on this thesis and forhis in瞗ormed guidance and advice.

　　本句中使用的學術性詞匯有extend， sincere gratitude和informed guidance，這些詞匯的使用可使"致謝"嚴謹、莊重。

　　i am most grateful to my supervisor professor xxx withoutwhose support and patience this thesiswould not have been com瞤leted.

　　此句中用了單個動詞"completed"，意思比較明確，在此則不可采用短語動詞"carried out"。因為短語動詞為非正式語言，"短語動詞往往不止一種含義，而且常常難以確定，寫專業論文時往往要用意義比較明確的單個動詞來代替……"[5]carry out就有"實施(計劃)"、"舉行(義務、約定)"、等含義。

　　i would like to thank my supervisor professor xxx withoutwhosemost helpful instructions and guidance， the completion ofthis thesiswould have been impossible.

　　此句中的"iwould like to"不宜縮寫為"i’d like to"。英語縮寫詞"一般用于非正式文體。"[6]iwould like to express my deep gratitude to my supervisorprofessorxxx for spendingmuch time reading and improving thisthesis.

　　i would also like to extendmy sincere thanks tomr. xxx forevaluatingmy thesis and offering valuable input.

　　finally， iwould like to give thanks tomy classmatexxx forfindingmemany valuable references in the course ofmywriting.

　　此"致謝"中的三個句子相互平行，結構相似，均采用的是"iwould like to do sth. to sb. fordoing sth."這一句子結構。

　　帶有平行結構的句子常用于正式文體[7]，以表強調。

　　3.掌握"致謝"內容的實質

　　盡管英語畢業論文"致謝"的篇幅不大，但其內容安排要求對其排列有序、段落層次分明、理由實在具體篇例如:i am most grateful to my supervisor professor xxx withoutwhosemosthelpful instructions andwarm encouragement this the瞫iswould nothave been finished.

　　i am also grateful tomy classmates xxx and xxx for theirtime spentwithme discussing questions concerned.

　　and lastly， special thanks go tomy parents andmy brotherwhohave always supportedme inmy endeavors to finish this thesis.

　　此"致謝"的對象包括導師、同學和家人，其感謝的順序是先導師、再同學、后家人，符合"致謝"寫作的對象排序。

　　以下"致謝"對象具體、文體正式、格式規范，實事求是，態度誠懇。比較符合西方英語學位論文"致謝"的寫作這一具體要求:"lauding one’s professors， and humbling one’s own e瞗forts are considered inappropriate."[8]acknowledgementsiwould like to expressmy heartfeltgratitude tomy supervisorprofessorxxx forher encouragement， guidance and advice tomethroughout thewriting of this thesis.

　　I hope by studying this short story we can know more about American southern women in certain history and culture and more importantly help women in modern society get a deeper understanding about ourselves ,help us raise our independence and confidence and show more concern for our mental health.

　　Next , I will present it to you. Here is an outline of my presentation. They are literature review, gothic tradition , the gothic style in the story and the causes of the gothic style .

　　This paper consists of six parts.

　　Part one presents an introduction to the author William Faulkner and A Rose for Emily by pointing out the purpose and significance of this study.

　　Part two is literature review which introduces the relevant research about this novel at home and abroad and then points out the theoretical basis and methods.

　　Part three gives a timeline of the gothic tradition in literature and explains the main characteristics of gothic works.

　　Part four explains the three aspects of the gothic style in the novel，that is, the death theme, grotesque characters and mystic atmosphere.

　　Part five then explains in detail the causes of the gothic style in this novel: patriarchal oppression, the myth of southern ladyhood and Emily’s attitude towards love.

　　Finally, in the conclusion, the author summarizes the previous parts and emphasizes the significance of the argument of the thesis again.
